Aunt Sylvia's Funeral

Today was my Aunt Sylvia's funeral, it was a beautiful day as you can tell. The funeral was very nice, my brother Bishop David Whitney conducted and did such a good job. It made his sister proud, my cute Dad, Jeff & Jared Stofferahn spoke as well as Sheri Parker, Cassie Parker played a flute solo, and the closing muscial number was the song "You Raise me Up" by Josh Groban. The pall bearers which were all her boys, a grandson and Uncle John stood by her casket as the song was played. There weren't too many dry eyes after the song was done. It was truly a tribute to Aunt Sylvia who will be missed, I cherished those birthday phone calls I'd receive over the last few years when she could no longer send cards. She was an amazing woman. She is buried in the same cemetary as her parents, the view from her grave site is beautiful. Here is some shots of the familly that was there. A happy occasion as we know that Aunt Sylvia is in a happier place, and I got see family I haven't seen in a long while.

As a tribute to Aunt Sylvia I added "You Raise Me Up" by Josh Grobin to my playlist. Hopefully that song will take on a new meaning after today. Love You Aunt Sylvia.

Hi! I got your blog address off of your facebook account. Thanks for posting these pictures! It was nice to see the funeral since I wasn't able to be there.

It truly was a celebration of her life and a nice tribute to the things she stood for. It was great to see many Whitney family members who I claim as my own.

I knew I could rely on you to post the funeral info and pics. Thank you. I am sad Utah is so far away when days like this come.

I echo all my cousins in saying "thanks" for those pictures. Times like this make the miles apart seem that much farther! I wish I could've been there to see everyone and pay respects to Aunt Sylvia. Growing up, she never missed a birthday. She will be missed.
