Happy Thanksgiving

It is truly a day to be thankful for all that we have. We will be able to eat a nice turkey dinner, enjoy each others company. As we celebrate Thanksgiving with our small family we are blessed this day. Robert has a job, we have cars, we have a house, we can put food on our table each day. We have good health, and most of all the Gospel of Jesus Christ. As I take a moment to reflect upon this last year, I have much to be thankful for, for the trials and the blessings that I experienced this year. I hope that each of you who read this will take a moment to ponder on all that you and your family have been blessed with.

The Christmas Tree

For years I have put up Christmas the day before Thanksgiving. Usually it only takes a few hours, and I generally don't have problems putting the lights on the tree. Not this year, I remembered this morning that I had a strand or 2 of bad lights. So Scott & I went to Wal-Mart and gone a box of 100 lights. Got that strand on and found another one that was bad. So this time I went to Walgreens in Kaysville and bought another 100 lights. I started this project around 11:00 before breaking to go to Wal Mart. When I went to Walgreens it was around 2ish, when I got home and pulled the lights in only half worked of my new box. Back to Walgreens I go to exchange. These work and I have one strand of 50 lights to put on, I'm not going to have enough to finish the tree. So back to Walgreens for the 3rd time to buy another box of 50, this time I buy 2. Buy the time I finished decorating the tree and putting up the rest of the Christmas decorations it was about a 5 hour project. I didn't get any baking done for Thanksgiving, I didn't think it would take all day to do the tree. Maybe it's time to invest in a tree with the lights already on it.

Bridger blessing

Brandon blessed he and Tiffany's son Bridger tonight at Mom and Dad's house. Everyone but Debbie and Jeff were there. (side note: Debbie, Jeff and family are at Disneyworld in Fl. this week...lucky ducks). We enjoyed each others company along with visiting with Brandon's family. The slide show is of Bridger and Alexa (Julie & Matt's) daughter. The cousins are just 15 days apart, they are in their blessing clothes. Half the fun of the pictures is their different facial expressions. You'll have to indulge me by watching what may seem like the same pose over and over, I just kept clicking as fast as a digital will click.

Veteran's Day

A thank you goes out to all the Veteran's today who served our Nation faithfully. I thank my father-in-law especially a Veteran of the Korean War. I am grateful that I live in a land where we are free, where I can fly our American Flag everyday out of respect for this Great Nation that we live in.

Happy Birthday

Today my nephew Spencer ( Julie & Matt's) is 9 years old. He's the only boy in a family of 5 girls. So he has to be a bit tough, he's a good kid, loving brother, and his mom's receptionist. Hope you have a great birthday.

Desert Star Playhouse

Robert wanted to take the family to a playhouse called "Desert Star" in Murray. It was started by some friends of ours about 20 years ago and has grown to a huge success since. We saw a parady of "Mary Poppins" called "Scary Poppins" (we saw the last day for this was today), with a hero and villian, the piano playing music for the boo's and the ahh's. Audience participation is encouraged and fun. When the play was over, they did an "Oleo" act, paying tribute to "America", focusing on our Veteran's. We ordered pizza, and drinks and ice cream for deseret. The kids had never been before, they really enjoyed themselves. The "MC" recognized birthday's etc., mentioning Robert celebrating his "50"th birthday. Even though it was a few weeks after his actual birthday, it was fun. The afternoon was spent out in the yard, picking up what we hope was the last of the Walnuts, I think we have hundreds and hundreds of walnuts that fall from that tree, then mowing the leaves. There are still more leaves to fall. Robert and Scott shot off rockets from their launcher that Robert built several weeks ago at a High Priest activity. He just got his compressor this week so the launcher will work. The rockets shot pretty high up, you have to have good eye sight to follow it down. Good thing we have Scott around, our eyes don't work so well.

Scott's 6th grade program

On Thursday Scott participated in his 6th grade program. They are studying Greek, Roman, Egpytian, Mospitina Mythology. They learned all about this thru music and dance, a program well done. Scott was a Egpytian slave and did a good job. Yhe teachers start teaching the kids the songs and dance about the 1st day of school. They really worked hard and it paid off.

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary to Whitney & Jesse, they have been married 1 year. This past year has gone by so fast. We had Randi at our house overnight and took her to church with us today. She's so cute, and her red hair gets everyone's attention. Most people in our ward know who she is and have watched her grow these past 19+ months. She was such a good girl today, sat still most of the time. She took a nap with Grandpa after church, cuddled with her "Melmo" (Elmo) blanket and stuffed animal. She is rapidly approaching the terrible "2's" though, and likes to get into the things she's not suppose to. She is the apple of everyone's eye so you can't get too upset with her when she does get into trouble. We love to be able to spend any time with her that we can get.

Our Walnut Tree

We have a Walnut Tree in our back yard that is at least 100 years old, it drops little furry things in the spring and tons of walnuts and leaves in the fall. Robert & Scott are usually the ones to mow the leaves and seperate the walnuts. It goes on for about a month or so. This is from the beginning of the week when Scott could use the leave picker upper and get them. The next step is the lawn mower because there are too many. Randi wasn't too sure if she likes sitting in the leaves, but did like helping me pick up the walnuts. It's a great shade tree in the summer, and we don't have a problem giving the walnuts away.

Halloween

For Halloween Robert came up with the idea of making Scott a lego costume. He brought home boxes from work and wrapping paper. Thursday night we wrapped all the boxes and then Robert cut out the holes. We use the canning lids to look like the lego parts you snap together. The pictures show the costume in the making. This picture is at Robert's office where Randi and Scott went Trick or Treating, Robert went as 'Colorado Bob', he says since he's never been to Indiana. Ha Ha. Whitney painted a pumpkin on her tummy so her babies could be "Pumpkins". Me I just wear my Halloween vest and call it good. Took the kids to both sets of Grandparents houses so they could show off the costume. Scott didn't wear the logo costume for Trick or Treating, he could hardly walk in it as it was. He just threw a mish mash of things together to go out last night. It's his last time to go Trick or Treating, he went with a friend and had fun. The temp. here last night was in the 50's, so most kids didn't even have to wear coats. It started to drizzle towards the later evening, only a few stragglers were still out by then.
